Time lock - Yale Lock Mfg. Co, double pin dial time lock with two E. Howard & Co mvts, heavy nickel-plated brass case with locking front lid (locking key is included with this lot as pictured), signed display glass with two winding apertures, two small enamel registers numbered to 60 at left and right perimeter, nickel damascene mvts with gilt balance cocks, pallet bridges, and escapement cocks, s#1015. A very attractive time lock style. From the collection of John Erroll, co-author of American Genius: Nineteenth-Century Bank Locks and Time Locks. A copy of the book will be included with this lot. Weight of lot is approximately 18 lbs.
CONDITION:
Mvts: Both running, excellent cosmetic mvt condition overall, some scattered small nicks and fine scratches; each enamel register with a single hl crossing its length; case shows little wear, a notch filed to lower-right perimeter of front lid, some scattered mild scratches and nicks, small sliver of finish loss to upper edge of front lid, good display glass, good locking function.
